My assessment is marked and finished and my reports have been written and vanquished FOREVER!
I had my final day on Friday in 3A and said goodbye to my gorgeous kidlets. I planned for a fun day. We played some educational games like spelling sparkle, times table bingo and around the world. I also got the kids to write out 2 raffle tickets each and set the timer to randomly beep at various intervals throughout the day. When it would beep I would draw out a child's name and they would have to come and draw out a number between 1-4 to win a prize. I had a blue box full of my classroom toys (Tickety, Mr Potato Head etc) or they could have one of my classroom signs or the African animals that were on the windows, or prizes from the regular prize box.

At lunch some of the staff had organised a combined Happy Birthday Tristan/Goodbye Claire cake- it was a TARDIS! Epic awesomeness right there.
TARDIS CAKE! |
The staff at school gave me a beautiful butterfly journal, some travel aromatherapy supplies plus some Middlemount souvenirs so I wouldn't forget the town!- So thoughtful.. thanks for organising that Sarah!
In the afternoon,The kids played some board games and we had some party food. Miss Shannon (the world's most amazing Music teacher) came in to join us and kids sang "Firefly" to me by Owl City. She had been teaching it to them over the last few weeks. It was beautiful!! Totally started crying they sounded so beautiful! Then I gave out my presents to the kids. They each got a Little Men or Little Miss book and a bookmark.
I hope they enjoyed it! Was really tough to stay goodbye- I had three of my beautiful kid's Mums all band together and give me a small bag full of stuff to take for the kids in Micronesia/Africa-coloured pencils, McDonald toys and some lollies. So so blessed!!!
That afternoon, My gorgeous friend Christa drove an hour and a half there and back to pick up my Mum from the airport in Emerald- SO GREAT to see her. After dinner with Nigel and Christa we started the long process of packing and cleaning. I totally underestimated the amount of work that this would require.. I think it was a combination of sheer optimism and complete denial. (it's not just an African river any more... "de-nile")
Christa and Nigel, David and Glenda, Puspita, Laurie and Amanda THANK YOU!
Big thanks to Nora as well for her yummy chicken curry we had for lunch and to Dee for letting us use your house to heat it and sit on some furniture for 20 minutes! Also for all those little things like more plastic bags and alfoil for the bottom of the oven.
Was so blessed to have Nicole and Clint offer the use of their trailer as well to cart some of my stuff. Initially I though it was going to be my wooden trunk and a gazunda. But it turned out to be at least 7 boxes worth as well!
How can one gal have so much stuff? Especially when she's had a garage sale and sold and given away at least 3/4 worth of it??
Mum and I spent the night at Nicole's place and left early for the trek to Brisbane today.
Mammino ice-cream is so scrummy! |
We made it! 904.1 kms later! |
